The Bath Chronicle-sponsored Primary
District team bounced back from the previous
week's crushing defeat by Plymouth with a 1-1 draw
against Bristol. Bath started the game well and
immediately put Bristol under
pressure.
Strikers Will Oswin (Newbridge)
and Lewis Hunt (WASPS) worked hard to close down
the Bristol defence, but opportunities were scarce
early on.
After 15 minutes, determined
tackling in midfield by Tillson and Peibst paid
off.
The ball was passed out to the right
wing, where Hunt shielded the ball from two
defenders and laid it back for Peibst. His cross
found Richard Watkins (Chandag), who finished well
from six yards.
Bristol then pressed
forward and tested the Bath defence. But Daniel
Rosser (St Martin's) and man-of-the-match Sam
Mount (King Edward's) shone, restricting the
impressive Bristol forwards to few
chances.
However, just before half-time,
the Bath defence were caught napping when a
Bristol striker headed a corner past keeper Sam
Butler (St Phillip's).
Chances were rare in
the second half. However, with 10 minutes to go,
Hunt surged forward and went past two defenders
before he shot just wide.
Bristol's
response was immediate and Butler made a good save
to ensure Bath gained a draw.
Coach Tim
Kirk said: "I was really pleased with the way the
boys competed. Now we are playing regularly I'm
sure we will pick up momentum and return to
winning ways."
Team: Sam Butler, Sam
