MISSES PROVE COSTLY FOR BATH AFTER HOME DEFEAT

from the Bath Chronicle 11:00 - 06 April 2004

The Bath Primary School representative team were again left to rue missed chances after losing 2-1 to Gloucester at the University of Bath on Saturday. The Bath Chronicle-sponsored squad dominated possession but could not find the finishing touch. (pictures)

The visitors opened the scoring in the first half before Newbridge School's William Oswin equalised after the break.

Bath had a goal disallowed for offside before Gloucester grabbed their second goal.

The hosts came close to levelling in the last minute but Lewis Hunt, of Wasps, failed to convert a good chance.

Wasps' Paris Grappy was named man of the match for Bath after his first start of the season for his skilful performance on the right of midfield.

"The game seemed to follow the same pattern where we dominate possession, but can't score," said Bath manager Tim Kirk.

Bath have three more games to play in the league - against Bristol (home), Swindon (home) and Plymouth (away).

First, however, they travel to the National Festival in Jersey on Saturday, when they will play six games in a tournament involving 18 teams.
