BATH UNDONE BY FEARSOME ATTACK

from the Bath Chronicle 11:00 - 04 May 2004

Bath Primary Schools lost their final match of the season as they crashed to a 4-0 defeat at the hands of Bristol. The Bath Chronicle-sponsored side had no answer to a Bristol team packed full of academy players and boasting a fearsome attack.

Trailing 2-0 at the interval, Tim Kirk's boys showed determination but were undone by Bristol's power and pace up front.

Joseph Symonds of Southdown School went close on a couple of occasions for Bath and with Jordan Tillson (Bathwick St Mary's) performing magnificently in the heart of midfield, Bath threatened to get back in the game.

But they were left to rue defensive mistakes which allowed Bristol to double their advantage before full-time.

Despite finishing bottom of their league, Bath coach Kirk was more than satisfied with his side's first ever season in the representative league.

He said: "It has been a brilliant season.

"The standard of football has been a lot higher than our lads expected and all the teams we played against have had academy players.

"Apart from the Bristol game we have only been losing by the odd goal. We just lacked a goalscorer but otherwise we have been superb."

Team: Sam Butler, Sam Mount, Dan, Tom, Jamie, Ernie, Jordan, Bradley,Lewis, Joe, Paris.
