Bath
Schools' held the second of their annual trials last week to
select the district squad for the new football season. Having
held an initial trial back in July for the most able players
from primary schools from all over Bath and North East
Somerset, 25 players were selected to attend a second set of
training sessions last week.
Among the schools represented were St Michael's,
WASPS, Newbridge, Oldfield Park, Chandag, Southdown and St
Mary's. Of the 25 selected, a squad of 16 will shortly be
announced.
The representative team will once again face
stiff opposition as they will begin their new campaign with
friendlies against Swindon, Gloucester and Mid
Wilts.
Coach Tim Kirk, said: "We had a fantastic group
of boys last season who set a high precedent for their
successors to follow.
"Consequently, we have been
extremely pleased with the turnout this year and cannot wait
to get started. They will be playing against some of the best
players in the south west and beyond so it is important that
we get access to the players on a weekly basis which we intend
to introduce for this season.
"First impressions are
certainly good and we'll announce the squad later this
week."
