BPSFA SEASON 2004/2005

April newsletter

Having come back fromJersey, it feels like we should be winding down and putting on the cricket whites.  However, our success this year has enabled us to carry on our programme for another few weeks yet and the details are contained within this letter.

Jersey

Congratulations to all the boys who went on tour to Jersey.  Greg and I were extremely pleased and proud of the way the boys conducted themselves on and off the pitch.  We faced some tough opposition and we were particularly impressed with the performance against Thurrock; every player really did work for each other and we dominated.

There will be no doubt many pleasant memories and I hope that the boys will feel that they learned a lot from the experience, and not just in football terms.  A big thank you to the parents for allowing and funding the boys to attend, they possibly don’t realise how lucky they are!

I did take photos and I will bring them along to the next fixture for everyone to have a look at.  I will also have edited a video of the trip shortly.

Presentation evening

This will be at the Sulis club on Friday the 10th June 1900 start.  The boys are required to wear shirt and tie.  There is a charge of £2.00 per ticket in order to cover the costs of the trophies.  This is payable on entry to the club.  Players do not have to pay, however.

Running analysis

Following on from our useful session a few weeks ago, I will offer a series of four coaching sessions which will concentrate on running form only.  I will employ an athletics coach from the university to run this session so there will be a small cost implication.  Those interested should let me know asap.

Next season

You may be wondering what will happen to this Bath Schools’ side once you go to senior school.  The answer I am afraid is still not clear.  We are currently looking into finding personnel and funding to continue the side, but we will know more towards the end of the season.  Trials for the new year 6 side for next year will be at the university on the 7th of May.  Please encourage your schools and any useful players you know of to attend.

Nomination

Could players please give me a note of paper with two names jotted down.  These will be your personal nominations for Players’ Player of the year.  Please do not discuss your nomination with anyone else.

Training

Training will now focus on small sided games.  This will help players to recognise what abilities and skills are needed to play these games, but players will also learn the strategies involved.   Can I remind players that they must call me should they not be available for a session.

Have a nice summer term! (the last one at your schools in fact!)
