Bath Primary Schools' FA began their search for
a new representative team on Saturday with their annual trials
at the univeristy of Bath. 60 boys from schools all
across Bath and North East Somerset turned out to try and
force their way into the selectors' 18 man squad for next
season.
As expected competition for places were high
with only 25 being selected for the next round of
trials. Amongst the contenders were some of last
year's squad including Jamie Smithies from Chandag
Juniors and Bradley Norris from Oldfield Park
Juniors.
The Bath schools' team will once again compete
in the competitive Cotwold league as well as national
knock-out cup competitions. The squad also intend
to go to the 7 day national festival in Jersey next
year.
The next trials will take the form of two
formal triaing sessions in September, after which the final
squad will be announced.

Coach Tim Kirk "There was a good turn out again
and it was nice to see them in action. We are going to
hold a second trial as it is too difficult to choose from
a single session. We had a fantastic squad last
year and so it will be tough for the new set of
players to live up to our high expectations. However,
they have already made a good start."
