Bath Primary Schools maintained their winning streak
with a well deserved 5-1 victory over Chiltern and South Bucks
at the
University of
Bath
on
Saturday.
With both teams looking to gain an early advantage
Bath were the first to create
the chances. Impressive play down the right hand side between
Lee Hedges (Chew Magma), Sam Clarke (Chandag) and Alex Jacobs
(St Mary’s) set up a number of opportunities. However the
first goal came from the opposition when a long ball caught
out the Bath defence and was followed
by a cool finish by the Chiltern attacker.
After the first goal
Bath were even more determined to score
and after only a few minutes
Bath
were back in the game.
The goal came from Jack Neil (Chandag) after a good cross by
Lee Hedges left Neil alone to strike it into the back of the
net. Soon after Neil could have had added to his tally but
somehow managed to blaze the ball over the bar from close in
.However after even more Bath pressure they took the lead
through a good strike by Hedges. Despite bright and attractive
play
Bath
weren’t able to increase
the lead before the half time whistle blew.
Bath Schools continued to press forward in the second
half playing their best attacking football of the season with
Bradley Norris (
Oldfield
Park
) and Paris Grappy
(WASPS) using their pace to advantage. They were soon rewarded
with a fine 20 yard strike by Grappy to make the score
3-1.Strong defending by Chandag pupil Jamie Smithies denied
the visitors a goal back and
Bath
pressed forward again.
Bath
capitalised on this by
going down the other end and after a series of rebounds in the
Chiltern penalty box they extended their lead by 3 goals with
a well drilled shot by Jack Rowlands (St Stephen’s). Despite
being down Chiltern fought back and had a number of chances
that Joseph Davies (WASPS) dealt with showing good handling
skills. Baths final goal resulted from a long through ball
from Rowlands to set the pacey Norris away down the wing , his
shot was well saved by the Chiltern keeper but Grappy followed
up to score his second.
Bath
could have got a sixth but a close range shot was put over by
Kristian Scott (
Kingswood)
who was disappointed by his high shot. A good all round
performance from
Bath who face
their next game against
Plymouth
in a
fortnight.
